Responsibility

Students and teachers together make the rules and manage day to day activities. Students and staff have equal democratic access to draft and amend rules, take part in supporting those rules and share in the administrating of conflict resolution and judicial processes.

In School Meeting, staff and students meet daily to propose, discuss and vote on rules, policies and concerns of the school's operation. Likewise, a Judicial Committee made of students and staff meet daily to address disputes and respond to breeches of the law. These two functions distinguish our approach to helping students learn responsibility for their actions and understand their potential to meaningfully contribute to a community.
